Why Sintered Stone is the Superior Alternative to Natural Marble for Extendable Dining Tables?

What is a sintered stone dining table?
A sintered stone tables feature sintered stone top that can be 12mm, or a 3mm laminated on tempered glass, and metal or wooden frames. Sintered stone is a durable material that has textures similar to natural materials, e.g. marble, wood grain, and rust, and can be used inside and outside.
What are the advantages of sintered stone versus natural marble?
Natural marble has rich, unique beauty, organic patterns, and depth. Sintered stone has been manufactured by modern industrial processes to visually resemble many famous natural marbles and can be replicated at scale.
Shattered stone looks like marble, but it is denser, harder, and scratch-resistant. Shattered stone does not need sealing, is highly stain resistant, has almost zero water absorption, is highly durable, and is very easy to maintain.
Check out our blog post “marble dining table vs ceramic table” for a detailed comparison of these two tabletop materials.
Can sintered stone tables be used outdoors?
Yes, sintered stone is UV and weather resistant – more so than wood or marble. It resists moisture, heat, and sunlight. However, for outdoor use to be effective, the table frame also needs weatherproofing protection. For metal frames, for example, you need a protective coating like exterior paint.
Astonisa has extensive expertise in this area. Here is the order record for the outdoor sintered stone project.
Is your ceramic tabletop prone to cracking?
We all share the common sense that ceramic is brittle and prone to shattering when being hit heavily and suddenly.
However, our ceramic tabletop is reinforced by 8-10mm toughened glass, the laminated structure greatly enhances the tabletop strength and makes it tough enough and far away from shattering, furthermore, each piece from us will be well protected for multiple transfers.
Are ceramic tabletops scratch proof?
The ceramic table top with Mohs hardness level 7 is much harder than your knives and forks. Comparatively much harder than other marbles or wooden tabletop, you no longer need to worry about hard-to-remove scratches left during daily use.
How to maintain a ceramic tabletop?
How to maintain the table rack hardware?
Even if the so-called stainless steel is used for a long time, it will rust. In order to prolong the service time of the metal dining table, you are suggested to do the following things well
A. Try to avoid putting metal dining furniture in wet places, let alone scrubbing electroplated furniture or metal parts with a wet cloth, which will accelerate metal rust.
B. When a yellowish brown stain is found on the surface of metal furniture, it can be wiped regularly with neutral oil or engine oil to prevent the expansion and the deterioration and rust of the electroplated protective layer.
C. Rust parts shall not be sanded with sandpaper. Apply engine oil evenly on the rusty place. After placing for a period of time, the rust can be wiped off.
Why does a 3-6 mm ceramic tabletop need an 8-10 mm tempered glass reinforcement?
One reason is that the ceramic material may need to be stronger to support the weight of objects placed on the table, such as dishes or books. The thicker tempered glass provides added strength and support to the tabletop, which helps to prevent it from breaking or cracking.
Additionally, tempered glass is more durable and resistant to impact and scratches, which can help to protect the ceramic tabletop from damage.
Overall, the added reinforcement with tempered glass improves the functionality and durability of the table.
